Killpecker Trail- Larimer

Darby's Favorite Reasons to Love this Hike:

1) Hike along the North Fork of the Poudre River for most of the way--I  love to take a dip in the refreshing cold water.

2) Lushness is abundant! Ground cover flora, aspens, evergreens, wildflowers and more. Logging areas for the Pine Beetle kill are obvious.

3) Off leash the entire trail- voice control for doggies is highly suggested.

4) Great trail for hiking from across the way if you are camping at North Fork Poudre Campsite. (8 sites, no reservations, great alternative to Red Feather Lakes Campsites)

 5) Trail ends at Elkhorn Baldy (4.1 miles); Middle Baldy Mountain views of Red Feather Lakes, Mummy Range, upper Poudre Canyon, Rawah and Medicine Bow Mountains.

Difficulty: moderate; start altitude 9200 ft, peak 11000 ft

Restrooms and picnic areas: at the campsites across the street

Bikes, horses: No

Dog off leash: Yes, under voice and sight control
