Fried Plantains

Dessert

15 minutes

2-4 servings

Overview

Plantains look like bananas, but do not taste like them. They are native to India and most tropical climates. Many Latin American cuisines fry plantains for dessert. Ours is a healthier version since we use organic coconut oil. High in Potassium, Vitamin A, B6, C and fiber. Yum! Phase One-Repair

Fried Plantains

Ingredients

1/2 cup(s) organic coconut oil

1 plantain, brown (not green)

1 dash(es) cinnamon powder

Steps

1. Cut the ends off the plantain and make a slit in the peel. Remove the peel and slice the plantain into one-inch pieces.

2. In a small stainless-steel skillet, heat the oil on medium heat until the oil gets hot (about 4-5 minutes).

3. Place the plantain in the pan carefully and cook on both sides about 2 minutes each, until they slightly brown on the ends.

4. Remove the plantains, put each one between two plates and smash it down a bit.

5. Return them to the oil and cook again for another 2 minutes per side. Remove and place on a paper towel to absorb the oil.

6. Sprinkle with cinnamon powder and serve. Enjoy!
